Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja is the hero who offers massive commercial stuff to the audience regardless of the jayapajayas. Ravi Teja, who was a bit shaken by the string of losses, bounced back. Last year ‘Dhamaka’ had blockbusters this year with ‘Waltheru Veeraiya’. Guaranteed another blockbuster of the same year, ‘Ravanasura’ hit the audience today (April 7). Apart from the titles, the promotional content also casts a negative shadow on Ravi Teja. And did Ravi Teja really appear in that negative tone in the film? How was the movie?
Ravanasura Movie Story
Ravindra (Ravi Teja), who works as a junior lawyer for Kanakamahalakshmi (Faria Abdullah), commits murder under the guise of various people. He portrays the people he wears as a mask as the perpetrators of these murders. Why is Ravindra committing all these murders while threatening the police without leaving even the slightest clue? Why do you portray people who are not related to each other as the perpetrators of these murders? That is the plot.
Sudhir Varma, who made his directorial debut with the film ‘Swami Rara’, became known as a specialist in the crime thriller genre with films like ‘Dochey’, ‘Kesava’ and ‘Ranarangam’. If a film with Ravi Teja as the main character comes out of the hand of a director like this, surely the expectations will be enormous. In line with those expectations, Sudhir Verma has chosen a good plot. ‘Ravanasura‘ has been screened with enough material for the massive fans of Maharaja by adding commercial elements to the thriller genre of the story presented by Srikanth Vissa. The director who showed the Ravi Teja we see regularly in the first part… presented Ravi Teja with negative pre-interval overtones. Ravi Teja has never looked so violent after becoming a star hero in movies.
However, Sudheer Ravma, who has chosen a good plot, is completely unable to effectively display it on the screen. There aren’t many exciting goosebumps-inducing scenes in this movie with a great cast. If not, Ravi Teja’s violence from the pre-interval to the entire second half seems new. The director who started the film with a comedy and romantic setting brought it back to the original story with a crime scene. And with the introduction of the character of Saket (Sushant), the story takes another turn. However, these two songs were also over. The movie runs smoothly for about 30 minutes.
After the introduction of Saket’s character, the investigation by the police… revealing who is committing the murders seems exciting. And the pre-interval scene is definitely amazing and terrifying. The highlight is the scene where Ravindra kills Harika. We take a break thinking about why he killed her so brutally. The thriller starts in the second half. The director has revealed things like why Ravindra is committing these murders. In this order, the title ‘Ravanasura’ was defined. If Ravanasura has ten heads in Ramayana, this ‘Ravanasura’ has ten targets.
However, Ravindra uses prosthetic makeup to beat his ten goals. With this makeup, he transforms into other people and commits murders. In fact, we have seen many movies in the past where the heroes fooled the villains by wearing masks like other people. There have been such movies since the time of NT Rama Rao. But, such scenes were not at all believable in the movies of that time. To overcome that, director Sudhir Verma tried to show the hero in the form of another person with prosthetic makeup. But, this is also illogical. Even if you change the face with prosthetic makeup, you can’t change the body language. Is it so easy to commit heinous crimes and fool the police with that makeup? On top of this, the graphics used for this prosthetic makeup are also not very good.
Due to these illogical scenes, the interest in the film decreases a bit. Even the simple revelation from a police officer of why Ravindra is committing these murders is not exciting. The climax will be with the concept of how a criminal lawyer thinks with his criminal mind and uses the law to commit murder. It doesn’t kick much either. This logic seems insufficient to kill a Minister of the Interior. Overall, this movie is a commercial thriller that lacks any logic. A logically-minded audience will surely enjoy it.
Ravi Teja is the only attraction in this movie with a great cast. Mass Maharaja is a one-man show. Cultivating comedy, romance, and flying fights are the black ways of Ravi Teja. But, something new has been shown in this movie. He showed his villainy. Ravanasura did justice to the title. No matter how many people are in the movie, our eyes will always turn to the character of Ravindra. Another important role in this movie is Saket. This role is played by Sushant. This is not a strong enough role to test the actor in Sushant. Whoever replaces him won’t make a huge difference to the role. It would not be an exaggeration to say that Sushant’s roles as Raju in ‘Ala Vaikunthapuramulo’ and Saket in ‘Ravanasura’ are examples of Sushant’s versatile acting.
Five beautiful girls played five different roles in this movie. It is not correct to call all of them heroines. Performance in five types of roles. Both heroines got a chance to dance with Ravi Teja on songs. Someone else had a chance to have a romance. Two others have nothing to do with Ravi Teja. But, they did their characters justice. Faria Abdullah’s role as Kanakamahalakshmi is entertaining. Anu Emmanuel appears three times. The roles of Poojita Ponnada and Daksha are important.
After that, Hyper Adi made us laugh at the beginning of the movie with one-liner jabs. Aadi’s punches on Harshavardhan are ridiculous. Another important character in the movie is ACP Hanumantha Rao. Veteran Malayalam actor Jayaram acted in this character. Those papers are for him. And Jayaprakash, Sampath, Sriram, Rao Ramesh, Murali Sharma, Praveen, etc. acted according to the scope of their roles.
When it comes to the technical behind-the-scenes… editor Naveen Nooli should be mentioned first. With his editing skills, he gave a good result with the right length. Naveen Nooli’s work is evident at crime scenes. And Harshavardhan Rameshwar’s background score is not good. Harshavardhan Rameshwar along with Bheems Cicerolio has composed the songs for this film. These songs were not very popular even before the movie was released. There are only a few in the movie. Otherwise, the Ravanasura theme that comes as part of the background score is good. Vijay Karthik Kannan’s cinematography is good. The Censorship Board has given the film an A certificate. But, except for two or three scenes, it’s no such movie, and the controversial dialogue that went viral on social media was also whistled.
