Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali Review
Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali Review: After delivering a sweet and memorable movie like ‘Sammohanam’, the duo of Sudheer Babu and Indraganti Mohan Krishna teamed up for ‘V’ which ended as a huge flop. They teamed up for the third time for a movie titled ‘Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali’ which revolves around the film industry. The trailer and the songs created a lot of curiosity among the audience, and movie lovers are waiting for another soft romantic entertainer with touching emotions. Let’s wait and see how the movie turned out.
Story:
Naveen (Sudheer Babu) is a highly successful young director in the film industry. He gets successive hits with full commercial artists but is stunned to see a beautiful girl’s showreel. He decides to make a female-oriented film with her as the main lead. He searches everywhere for her and discovers that she is a doctor named Alekhya (Krithi Shetty). She and her roles hate the field of cinema and there is a strong reason for it. What is that reason? Will Naveen be able to convince her and her parents? Where will this journey take Naveen and Alekhya? All these questions will be answered in the film.
Analysis:
There are some movies that do a decent business in theaters and go quietly. But the awesomeness of that movie will come through later when people watch it again on TV or OTT platforms. People then feel sad to miss such a movie in theaters. They start talking about why the movie didn’t get the plaudits it deserved. ‘Sammohanam’ with Sudheer Babu and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead is one of those films. Directed by Mohan Krishna Indraganti, this movie got a lot of appreciation after it was made available on the internet. Some even call it a classic love story, albeit a bit inspired by ‘Notting Hill.
With the same director and hero making a movie set in the world of cinema once again, people began to raise their expectations. They dreamed of a movie with strong characters, beautiful moments, a nice story, and a tight script. While ‘Sammohanam’ feels natural, ‘Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Cheppali’ lacks magic and feels like a copycat of his previous film. As Indraganti tried to tell a different story to the audience, the boring script, serious scenes, and slow procedures bogged down the film. The first thing you expect from a love story is beautiful chemistry and magical moments between the main couple. They are the biggest asset of ‘Sammohanam’. The strong characters and the drama between them made the movie special. But the chemistry between the leading couple of ‘Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali’ didn’t work and there is no magic moment in this film.
While the sticking point is good, the way it was presented isn’t impressive. Our hero, who is a director, is determined to make the girl his heroine. The girl has a strong reason to keep him away but accepts his offer after realizing it. The main point revolves around the reason why the girl hates the field in the movie. The whole story revolves around her. This is a serious subject and with the tragedy involved, the script moves at a snail’s pace with heavy scenes.
Indraganti is known for injecting situational comedy into a serious story. But this time it was based on emotions and drama. As the hero character says, they focused on the excitement and ignored the entertainment. Until the middle twist involving the heroine, the film runs on a flat note with no ups and downs. Although some satires on the events in the world of cinema bring a few smiles, the story does not move forward. Despite not being necessary to the story, the emotional scene involving the hero is the only special scene that stands out in the first half.
While the twist for the heroine’s character looked good, the flashback portions are very predictable. The sad flashbacks drag on a lot. The scenes involving Avasarala Srinivas provide some relief, but the story fails to make any impact. The director made no effort to establish the link between the hero and the heroine. We do not have the feeling that they are in love. The scenes involving the heroine and her parents give you a TV series vibe. The melodrama overflows in these scenes. The last scenes that show the projection of the film of a hero with heroin are well-treated. It excites you. But the rest of the procedures that tested your patience until then ended up as a big inconvenience. In general, it is not a film on the level of Indraganti.
Performance:
Sudheer Babu showed a lot of maturity in this movie. His controlled action in many places worked well. But his character is not as lovable as ‘Sammohanam’. He did a great job in an emotional scene during the first half. Krithi Shetty leaves you with mixed feelings. She looked very cute in some scenes while in others she looked too ordinary. Compared to her previous films, she gave a better performance this time, but it pales in comparison to Aditi Rao’s performance in ‘Sammohanam’. Vennela Kishore provided some laughs, while Rahul Ramakrishna didn’t have much room to act. Srikanth Iyengar is decent while the other actors are fine.
Technicians:
Music is very crucial for a love story and Vivek Sagar was disappointed with the songs once again after ‘Ante Sundaraniki’. Although they sound good when watching the movie, nothing stands out. His background score is as good as expected. PG Vinda’s cinematography is wonderful. The images look great and the production values are adequate. Writer-director Mohan Krishna Indraganti returned to his comfort zone after failing badly with ‘V’. But he failed to meet the standards set by himself. This love story of yours lacked magic and its beautiful moments were marked.
Verdict: The magic of Mohan Krishna is missing
Rating: 2.25/5
